   Ask the manager, owner, or staff to file an incident report. Get a copy or at least the name of who took the report.

   Photograph the hazard

   Wet floors get dried, ice melts, broken steps get fixed. Photos and video taken in the first few minutes are often impossible to recreate.

   Keep your shoes

   A common defense is that the footwear caused the fall. Bag your shoes and store them.
